5 Reasons The NFL is in Bigger Trouble Than They Think

Last Friday, I posted this question in dozens of Conservative Facebook groups…

“If NFL cleans up their act now, how many of you will STILL boycott them this season?”

I was amazed at the responses. Hundreds within the first two minutes. Thousands by the end of the day. More than 90% of the commenters said they’d never watch NFL again. The rest said they’d boycott the entire season. Only a handful said “let’s wait and see.” This wasn’t surprising. But some of their REASONS were. I’ll show you why in a moment.

Of course, the Main Stream Media is bragging about a 3% ratings increase from week three of the 2016 NFL season. But as usual, they don’t seem to understand what Conservative Americans really think. Sure, a lot of the “never again” NFL fans will probably change their minds. Especially now that some NFL players and coaches are back-peddling on their reasons for protesting the national anthem.

But I’d like to show you, based on some clues in these THOUSANDS of Facebook comments, why I believe the NFL could be in bigger trouble than they think…

#1: Disrespecting Our Flag Was NOT Their 1rst Mistake

Conservatives make up a BIG portion of the NFL fan base. This means, the NFL can’t afford to lose their loyalty. And if Conservative fans were only pissed off about the recent national anthem protests, I’d say the NFL might recover pretty quick. But Conservative fans have other complaints about the NFL. Complaints which began before 2016 when the NFL ratings first started to drop.

But before we talk about those, let’s get some facts right about the NFL’s recent back-peddling on the national anthem protests. Many coaches and players are now saying it isn’t about the flag or the country. But here’s what Colin “Big-Bird” Kaepernick said when he first decided to protest the National Anthem…

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

This was during the 2016 season. At the start of the 2017 season, the news came that Kaepernick might not get rehired by the NFL. Next thing you know, the “everybody gets a trophy,” Liberals were in full temper-tantrum mode. They demanded that the NFL either give Kaepernick a job, or they’d boycott the NFL. This is in spite of the fact that Kaepernick is a lousy, bench-warming tool who makes too much damn money to suck as bad as he does.

Yet, in their signature juvenile style, the Loony Left accused the NFL of being “racist,” for not hiring Kaepernick. In my opinion, if you suck, you’re not entitled to a job just because you’re a member of one of the Left’s grievance gangs. And you sure as hell don’t “deserve” to make $11.9 million dollars a year for warming a bench. Especially when you’re doing more to stir up political controversy than you are to score touchdowns.

But enough about Big Bird for now. My point is that the NFL players joined the ho-hum chorus of Loony Lefty’s by sporting the ironic “stand with Kaepernick” slogan. Next thing you know, players all over the league were taking the knee during our national anthem. Did they REALLY not know Kaepernick’s original motive? Were they just following the crowd like a mob of cattle marching into the slaugther house?

I doubt it. It was crystal clear to ANYONE paying attention that the national anthem protests were about disrespecting America. Here’s Kaepernick’s statement again…

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

I won’t get into whether he’s justified in his reasoning. He has the right to say what he wants. But it’s a slap in the face that the NFL players who joined him tried to convince fans that it “wasn’t about the flag or the country.”  We have a saying where I come from…

“Don’t piss down my back and tell me its raining.”

That’s exactly what the NFL did when they tried to wiggle out of their political quandary by saying “it’s not about the flag or the country.” Of course it was. And if the NFL players who took the knee were too dumb to realize this before they fell in line behind their peers, that’s even worse.

They could have shown that it wasn’t about the flag by standing for the anthem and voicing their political views in another way. They could have set up Twitter accounts, posted YouTube videos or bought ad time on T.V. Instead, they decided to use the NFL’s national platform to push their political views. By the laws of this country, the NFL owners would have had EVERY right to fire them for doing this.

That’s the price you pay when you stand up for something controversial. And if the NFL players weren’t willing to pay that price without throwing a public temper-tantrum, I question how much they really believe in what they were kneeling for.

#2: Many NFL Players Are Just “Trash With Cash”

NFL players might be “heroes” while they’re on the playing field. But off field, a LOT of them are no better than your garden variety trailer trash or ghetto thugs. The fact that they earn millions of dollars a year, or that they captivate the attention of millions of fans, doesn’t change this.

Conservative fans know this, and thousands of them cited it as one of the many reasons they were DONE watching the NFL after the national anthem protests. To illustrate this, here’s a radio segment from Micheal Savage on the NFL players’ criminal “rap-sheet” in 2016 & 2017 alone…

Here’s another list of NFL player arrests during the 2014 off-season. This list was published by author: Tony Manfred of Business Insider

  27. Ausar Walcott, Cleveland Browns (June 26): Arrested for attempted murder after punching a man outside a club in New Jersey.

The Political Left often screams “racism,” when you site the criminal offenses of NFL players. But plenty of these players are white. Besides, these arrests have nothing to do with the color of the players’ skin. They have to with the content of their character. Most important, they prove that trash with cash (whether black, white or “other”) is still trash.

Americans, in general, tend to put talent above character. They also tend to value personalities over principles. But Conservative Americans aren’t as starstruck as the Political Left. We don’t care about the opinions of sports heroes or self-righteous Hollywood actors and actresses. We’re sick of celebrities pretending like their moral and/or political views are superior to ours.

True, they have a larger platform to promote their ideas from. They have millions of starry-eyed Leftists who will clap like trained seals at any Loony Lefty fluff that comes out of their mouths. But their smug “I’m famous and a lot of people like me, so my opinions are superior to yours,” is a just textbook case of what psychologists call “The Halo Effect.” People with common sense simply aren’t fooled by it.

And when the celebrities barfing these unpolitical opinions are criminal trash, it goes beyond mere stupidity. It’s offensive. I had DOZENS of comments from Conservative fans who were no longer willing to spend their money to watch criminals who get paid millions of dollars a year AND who disrespect their country. The nickname “National Felon’s League” was common in many of these comments.

Clearly, Conservatives don’t want to be lectured and looked down on by people who can’t even keep their own side of the street clean. Of course, not everyone who knelt for the anthem was a felon. But when NFL players disrespect our flag and lecture us on how “unfair” our country is, they shouldn’t be shocked when we call some of them out on their drama.

#3: The NFL Gets Too Much “Charity” From Taxpayers

The NFL is a multi-billion dollar enterprise. Their players and coaches make millions of dollars a year.  Some of their owners are billionaires. Nothing wrong with that. But there IS something wrong them them repeatedly fleecing American tax-payers, many of whom don’t watch the NFL or even give a damn about football, just to multi-million dollar football stadiums.

Of course, tax-payer funded corporate welfare isn’t limited to the NFL. But they’re one of the biggest beneficiaries. For example, here’s a short, puke-inducing list of government subsidies which were used to build professional sports stadiums between the years of 2000 & 2016…

And this is just NATIONAL corporate welfare. Tax payers have been fleeced, even scammed, on a local level to pay for NFL Stadiums. Case in point, I was once a big Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. From the age of five actually. But they lost my loyalty when they pulled a multi-million dollar scam against the citizens of Tampa. I’m talking about their “Raymond James Stadium,” building project.

First, they had Tampa citizens vote on a sales tax for funding the stadium. To gain support for the vote, they promised to donate a portion of the money to local government organizations. The vote passed. And not only were Tampa residents who didn’t vote for the tax FORCED to pay extra sales tax anyway, the city AND the Buccaneer owners backed out on their promise.

They rationalized this with some twaddle about how the stadium would “stimulate the local economy” and benefit everyone anyway. What about the hundreds of small businesses here in Tampa? Don’t they stimulate the economy too? How many of them are bloody billionaires? If we’re going to subsidize anyone, it ought to be them.

But in my opinion, NO private enterprise is entitled to tax payer funded “Charity.” Especially not when they lie to citizens on the ballot so that they’ll vote for the tax. Yet, this is how the Raymond James Stadium was built AND how it earned the nickname “CITS” – Community Investment Tax Stadium. I’d change that last word to “Scam,” instead of “Stadium.”

This is just ONE example of how the NFL fleeces American taxpayers to fund their PRIVATE enterprise. All while NFL fans shovel out hundreds of dollars a year for season tickets and merchandise. That’s 100% unacceptable. Especially when they use their platform to shove their political opinions down our throats.

In my opinion, NFL players ought to take a knee to thank their fans AND the U.S. tax-payers for the support AND the charity that allows them to earn their massive salaries.

#4: Sports “Heroes” Earn More Than REAL Heroes

Check out this picture on the right. That NFL player on the left is Colin Kaepernick. He’s sitting, in protest, during the national anthem. At the time of this picture, we was making $11.9 to warm a bench for the San Fransisco 49ers.

That man on the right is an American soldier. He who lost his legs defending the same country that gives Colin Kaepernick the opportunity to make $11.9 a year AND protest the national anthem. As you can see, he’s doing his best to “stand” and show respect to his country.

As I said before, Kaerpernick has the freedom to protest the anthem if we wants. But the first amendment gives NO ONE freedom from the social backlash of their opinions. Still, the Political Left seems to believe that if you’re criticizing someone who believes as they do, you’re violating their first amendment rights.

Case in point, they’ve accused Kaepernick’s critics, including President Trump, of being “against freedom of speech.” This is a horribly fallacious argument which ignores the first amendment rights of people who criticize the speech and propaganda of the Political Left. Right now, one of our biggest criticisms against NFL players is that they’ve spit in the face of this countries REAL heroes. All while making millions of dollars a year playing football.

I’m all about people becoming prosperous and successful. But, I can’t help but agree with Conservatives who are sick of watching sports “heroes” earn millions while our military, police officers and fire fighters earn a tiny fraction of that. This might have been tolerable before the NFL decided to throw their political hats in the ring. But now, these spoiled NFL players have blown the income imbalance conversation wide open.

If people like Kaepernick really cared about “people of color,” they’d get their facts right on what that flag stands for and who bled and died to defend it. They’d realize that they’re spitting in the face of every African-American soldier who died in the Civil War AND in every America War since then, just so that they could live in a country where they make a fortune playing football.

They might also realize that they’re disrespecting one of the ONLY countries that fought a Civil War to END slavery for good. But unless they face up to these double standards, they can expect more backlash like this rant from radio talk-show host Mark Levin· on Monday, September 25, 2017…

“Billionaires and millionaires linking arms and taking knees in unity for what? There are brave men and women in real uniforms but you won’t find them on the football field. You’ll find them in the military and law enforcement. They’re not famous. They’re not rich. But they’re our very best. They put their lives on the line everyday. And they’re being disrespected.”

“Football players are not doctors who care for the sick, inventors who improve the quality of life, scientists who find breakthrough medicines, etc. They’re fake activists. And they’re increasingly fake entertainers. The NFL has revealed itself to be a collection of spoiled narcissists where self-aggrandizing groupthink Is celebrated. This isn’t about free speech. It’s about the American people, and particularly the fans, increasingly repulsed by the antics on the football field.”

The thousands of responses I read on Facebook reflected this exact sentiment. Why should Conservative NFL fans pay money to watch billionaire and millionaire political activists disrespect their country, while the people who defend their country earn a fraction of that? This is especially infuriating when the NFL uses tax payer “charity” to build the stadiums where fans PAY to watch them play.

Here’s an idea. Let the NFL take a hit in their ratings and profits because of these boycotts. Let’s see how committed they are to their political protests then. My guess is, they’ll completely back off once the money starts to disappear. In my opinion, this will prove that they care more about their bloated salaries then they do about their political “values.”

#5: Conservative Americans Are FED UP With Leftist Propaganda

In my opinion, the Political Left and the Main Stream Media are STILL grossly underestimating how FED UP Conservative Americans, and many independents, are with Leftist Political propaganda.

The Radical Left isn’t content with having their views and letting other Americans have theirs. They have a great big rubbery hard-on to reinvent American culture, rewrite our laws and force Globalism down our throats.

It seems everywhere you go, the Left is pushing their irrational, morally bankrupt “values” in your face. They’ve forced Conservative taxpayers to fund abortion operations like Planned Parenthood. They’ve used the State funded and State governed court systems to bully Christian business owners into accepting their ideology on same-sex marriage.

They’re in the process of turning the public schools into Leftist indoctrination camps. They constantly whine about “Separation of Church & State,” but want the tax-payer funded court system to force Leftist “morals” on the rest of the country. Everyone, except Liberals, needs an occasional break from this persistent barrage of Loony Lefty propaganda.

This is why a lot of Conservative Americans watched the NFL in the first place. But now, the Radical Leftists have sunk their tentacles into the NFL too. And this will NOT be the end. They won’t stop until they’ve turned America into a Loony Liberal hell-hole. This is the BIGGEST reason Conservative voters elected a street-fighter candidate like Donald Trump.

Donald Trump has been the ONLY Republican President since Reagan who had the balls to stand up to the constant bullying of the Political Left and the Main Stream Media. Sadly, many Loony Lefties still have their heads buried to deep in the sand to realize this. Many of them won’t even admit the Liberally Bias Media exists. They just continue to bully and harass people who don’t think like they do.

To me, they’re like starry-eyed tourists who poke a 900 pound grizzly bear, not realizing that, if they keep it up, they’ll soon wish they’d left the bear alone. Maybe they’ll learn their lesson as they continue to lose elections.

But common sense tells me they’ll just float another hysterical conspiracy theory like the “Trump Russia Collusion.” If the Left keeps their attacks on American culture, they may motivate the Right to elect someone who TRULY IS as ruthless and uncompromising as they’ve made Donald Trump out to be.

Maybe that’s what it will take. But the bottom line is that Americans are sick of the Left’s relentless harassing, bullying and propaganda. And the longer it takes the Left to figure this out, the more they’ll frustrate and infuriate Americans who just want to raise their children in a safe, prosperous, culturally strong country.

Why is the NFL in more trouble than they think? Because, while their collective national anthem protest might have been the last straw, it was by no means the first one and only one. Like the Main Stream Media, the NFL doesn’t seem to have a clue who their fans are or what the American public really thinks about Leftist Politics.

And if the 2016 Election of Donald Trump and drop in NFL Ratings isn’t enough to teach them, I’m betting the Left will have to keep learning the hard way. This means more temper-tantrums, more conspiracy theories and more mindless, virtue-signaling protests. On the bright side, that could turn out to be entertaining than watching the NFL.
